How does one sum up themselves for an about me section of a blog that’s already themself? I’d love to say: “Just read some posts to find out!” but that oddly reads like a lazy dating profile or something. However, like the many hopeless daters who probably just lack the self-knowledge to be able to present themselves well in words to someone new, I too am at a loss.
I was told once that writing isn’t just putting down your thoughts and ideas, but rather a process that helps you figure out what you actually have to say. So then, I probably need to write future posts just as much as you need to read them for either of us to learn more about me. I’m sorry if that just seems like a more elaborate cop-out, but I’m at such a crossroads in my self-image that trying to pin something down almost feels dishonest. I’d rather admit that I’m fumbling around to make sense of myself and then come back again to write a more descriptive about me page later. Hopefully in the not too distant future.
Here is a part of my old about me section that I just don’t quite have the heart to delete, even though I’m not quite sure if it fits with me or my blog now. However, it is probably still good advice for me to heed, in the words of C. S. Lewis: “Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it.”
