I have had the desire to give myself a space to play with ideas and think through things that I care about for quite a while. Like any project, it is natural to have hesitation for a whole slew of reasons, but there was one that really stuck out to me and I would like to discuss it here.
I remember hearing recently on a podcast, I cannot remember which, that said those who post their opinions online are more likely to not change their opinions later on. Although I don’t know the full merits of this statement, I can say that it certainly makes a lot of sense to me and I find it concerning. I would love to have this space to process and connect, but not at the expense of growing. Nonetheless, even in person we all still have to make the effort to be open to new arguments and life experiences that may give our old opinions a run for their money. So, before I get too far along in this process, I want to make a promise to myself as well as to any future readers, if I’m blessed to have some, that although I will express my opinions with conviction and stand firm in what I believe, I also write in the spirit of growing and seeking truth over my own pride. What I ask from you in return, if you choose to lend me your eyes and your time, is to afford me that understanding even if I royally suck at it sometimes.
